Your child deserves a stellar smile, and we can help make that a reality with our dental services.
Teeth Cleanings & Dental Exams
Whatever your age, it’s a good idea to get a dental cleaning every six months. One of our team members will clean and polish your child’s teeth and then go over the best ways to brush and floss. During a dental exam, we’ll take a look at all the teeth and gums to make sure everything is looking a-okay or whether additional treatments are necessary to protect their smile.
Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that helps shield teeth from damaging acid. Sometimes we tell kids that it’s like a superhero that protects their teeth against cavities! It’s found in most community water systems and in plenty of toothpastes, but sometimes kids need additional fluoride to keep their teeth healthy. In these cases, we apply fluoride to the outside of teeth to strengthen enamel and reduce the risk of decay.
It can be tricky for kids to thoroughly clean those little grooves on their back teeth, and since those teeth do all the chewing, it makes them the perfect spots for decay to settle. Food and bacteria can get stuck in the crevices of premolars and molars and cause cavities. With dental sealants, we literally seal off those fissures in a simple, quick, and painless procedure so the teeth can stay protected from plaque and acid.
Cavities are a common occurrence, but it’s important to address them before they lead to more serious problems that need more serious solutions. Getting a filling is a routine procedure that won’t take long at all. We’ll first get rid of any decay and then clean the area. Finally, we’ll place the filling, which is a way to close off any areas where there could be further decay. We sometimes also use fillings to repair a cracked or broken tooth.
A mouthguard is an important piece of equipment for any kids who play contact sports. It reduces the chance of tooth, gum, lip, tongue, and cheek injuries. While you can find generic, one-size-fits-all mouthgaurds at the store, we make custom-fitted mouthguards that fit snugly to your child’s teeth and offer increased protection and comfort.
